Burma

We have made it to Burma! This is the best place we have been our whole trip. It is much different than we expected, but we are loving every minute of it. There are more tourists than we expected [still less than anywhere else we have been] but they are all old 'package tour' Europeans. They stay at posh hotels and fly everywhere and just pop into the sights to ruin our photos. God, I am sounding like a true bitter backpacker now!

We have already seen some incredible things, mostly Buddhist sites. The people here are incredibly nice. We have met tons of people. At the sites locals will grab us by the arm and take photos of us, laugh and talk about us, and even try to squeeze us to see what we feel like! It is really silly. They also like to exchange phone numbers. They are so kind and friendly. If you smile at someone they will return a much bigger smile, and sometimes start laughing and turn away. The food is great but there is a lot of meat, which we have been trying to avoid but have put down a bit of chicken and who knows what else.

Can't talk about email access issues and things relating to that due to big brother keeping an eye out...

Natalie has a little stomach bug, so she is in bed. She will try to send out a message later. Again, we don't know how often we will be able to email so don't expect any more messages.

Here are things we have done so far (you can find all of this on google if you are interested):

Yangon
Bago
reclining Buddha
snake temple
Nat temple
monastery (second largest in Myanmar)
various other temples
Kyaiktiyo
Golden Rock Stupa
Inle Lake
lake boat tour
jumping cat monastery
floating gardens
