A little bit of people?

In two days we are going on a guided trek into the mountains of Nepal. Before setting off we decided to ship home a few goodies to our folks.

We picked this export place because it was named after this indian guru/con man that Natalie has become obsessed with. He wears an orange or white robe, has a huge afro (sometimes he pulls rolex watches from it), a goofy grin, and like, a million followers. His name is Sai Baba if you want to look him up.

Anyway, we get there and it turns out they really only do exports of huge quanties, but in true nepalese fashion are so eager to please that they say they can send our stuff, no problem. But they need to call in the boss. The boss will arrive in 30 mintues. We should have some tea while we wait. They can't tell us how much it is to ship. Only boss can tell. They weigh and re-weigh our stuff. They compliment us on our packing skills (sealed in a few ziplocks). we wait.

Boss arrives and has to make some calls to check price. We have to wait for calls to be returned. We drink our tea. 1 hour later we are looking at a map of the US and explaiing 'where live lot of people, where live little bit of people'. really. They had no idea that in places like alaska and canada only a little bit of people are living there. Boss points to place on map (colorado) ' a little bit of people?' points to mexico. 'a little bit of people?' greenland. 'a little bit of people?' laugh and laugh. We tried to explain glaciers. I dont think we were successful.

It was so hilarious. And they couldnt believe that there are places in the US where people dont have electricity. (i find that one hard to believe too) and some dont have jobs. 'Why dont they all move to city to find work?' they ask.

They were sooo nice and we gave them sooo much money to ship 'a little bit of stuff'.
